1. Do I have to check in at the front desk each time I visit? Yes, customers must scan their membership cards every time they enter the fitness center. After hours the doors are closed and locked and it will be necessary to scan in to gain access.

2. How do I get a locker or towel when I visit the gym? Lockers are available for day use only. Simply put your stuff in an open locker and remove the key. All keys have a wrist band on them so you can attach it to you while you work out. Sweat towels are dispensed throughout the gym with sanitary towel dispensers. These towels can also be used with the anti-bacterial spray bottles to clean your equipment if necessary. For bath towels please get one per visit from the front desk. There is no cost for locker or towel use.

3. How do I get started with some help beyond my basic membership? If you need help getting started, our staff will be happy to teach you a basic circuit routine. We have three levels of pre-written circuit routines that explain all the exercises with illustrations of each one. A staff member will demostrate each exercise and make sure that you know how to properly and safely use all the equipment. We also have group fitness classes such as Reebock Rep to help jump-start your fitness routine, and variety of cardio machines. Should you require more assistance, please inquire about our personal training services.

4. What kind of help can I expect as a new member since am not gym experienced? We specialize in people who are unfamiliar with use of a gym. We understand that just walking in the first time can feel very intimidating. For that reason we trip over ourselves to create a warm and welcoming environment, and we are willing to answer any fitness question you may have without being condescending. There are a lot of barriers for most people to get into a gym, and we make it a point to be aware of those and reduce them as much as possible. We will make sure that you are fully oriented so that you can get the most out of your membership.

5. What if someone is using a piece of equipment that I want to use? The proper gym etiquette is to politely ask if you can "work in" with them. When working in with someone, always show courtesy and clean your equipment if necessary, and step off while you are resting so that they can continue their workout. Some exercises have more than one place you can do them as well, and you can always ask for assistance from a staff member to show you some alternatives.

6. If I have a problem with my membership whom do I call? Kenny McConnel is the office manager and he can deal with 99% of problems that can come up. If you have a problem with your electronic funds transfer, you can contact ABC Financial directly as well. We will give you that contact info upon request.

7. Cleanliness is important to me. How can I help keep the gym clean when I visit? Thanks for asking! You will notice from your very first that JP Fitness is always clean and neat. We are very proud of the fact that it does not smell like a gym! There are towelette dispensers located throughout the gym, along with anti-bacterial cleaner spray bottles. If your equipment is sweaty when you’re done please wipe the equipment down. Also, please help us keep the upscale appearance of our fitness center by putting weights or dumbbells away when you are finished with them. If you see that a restroom or shower needs cleaning, please immediately notify a staff member so we can immediately correct the situation.

8. Are there other people like me at JP Fitness? We are an upscale adult facility; therefore we cater to a professional adult population. Our typical members are between the ages of 30 to 60 years-old, with exceptions in both directions. Few people come here who are already fit, so if you are de-conditioned, don’t be discouraged because you are not alone. Our male to female ratio is about 50:50. During your orientation you will find that we have a wide variety of shapes and sizes, and we want you to feel welcome and accepted here because our philosophy is based on meeting you where you are health and fitness-wise. You will rarely if ever see “bodybuilders” working out here, although we welcome everyone without discrimination.

9. Do you have tanning beds? Yes, we have a high pressure 10-15 minute bed, so you can enjoy keeping a little color on you as you go through the winter season without pasty skin. Call for your appointment or just check the schedule on line.

10. Can I bring a guest? You are welcome to bring a guest. Our daily fee is $15. If your guest is local and interested in becoming a member we will set them up with a 7-day free pass. Please do not bring guests with you after hours or you could lose your after-hours access.
